Raška
"Raška, the place where we were born" ... Nikola Pašić
The most important waterway in Raška is the Ibar River that springs in Montenegro, below the mountain of Hajla. Through the municipality of Raška, it runs with the length of 34 km, from Rudnica to Biljanovac. Its depth is up to 4 m, and the average width is 15-20 m. Ibar is very good for fishing lovers because of the richness of fish (chub, gudgeon, catfish, nase, carp, whitefish, cactus roach). Otherwise, the word “Ibar” is of Celtic origin and means “white water”. The right tributaries of the Ibar River in the territory of Raška are: Rudnička, Radošićka, Pavlička i Jošanička River, and the left tributaries are: Raška and Brvenica.
The Raška River springs under the mountain Jarut on the edge of Koštan polje. Through the territory of the municipality of Raška, it runs at a length of 9 km, from the village of Panojeviće to the mouth of Ibar.
The Trnava River (18 km), which springs on the eastern slopes of Golija at an altitude of 1,000 m is the longest tributary of Raška River.
The Brvenica River is formed by two smaller river flows – the Grabovička i Kruševička rivers, which are connected in the village of Gradac. From that place, as Brvenica it flows in a length of 12,5 km to Brvenik, where it flows into Ibar.
The Rudnička River (in the upper course it is Barska Reka) springs under the Suvo Rudište, on Kopaonik, at a height of 1,600 m and it is 14 km long. It flows through the subcontinental villages and in the village of Rudnica it flows into Ibar. Fishermen are regular visitors because there are trout, gudgeon and chub.
Sources in the territory of Raška municipality are: Marina Voda (5˚C) and Krčmar Voda (4˚C) on Kopaonik, Biser Voda in the village Biniće (8˚C).
The famous springs in the municipality of Raška are Ivanje in Borović, Banja in Gradac, Sastavci in Semeteš, Gvozdena voda in Jošanička Banja.
