Golija
Since 2001, Golija Mountain area has been placed under the protection of the state as the Golija Nature Park, which is classified in the first category of protection as a natural good of exceptional importance.
Golija is the most extensive mountain in southwestern Serbia. It is located in a length of 32 km and occupies an area of 75,183 ha. The Municipality of Raška takes up 12,937 ha or 17% of the total territory. The two highest peaks of the mountain are Jankov Kamen (1,833 m) and Crni vrh (1,795 m). Golija is 51 km away from Raška. By its beauty and diversity of landscapes, as well as the preservation of original natural and cultural values, it is one of the most beautiful mountains in Serbia. Since 2001, Golija Mountain area has been placed under the protection of the state as the Golija Nature Park, which is classified in the first category of protection as a natural good of exceptional importance. Due to the preservation of the original natural values, but also because of cultural values, the MAB/UNESCO Committee within the Golija Nature Park declared Golija Biosphere Reserve – Studenica.
