Jošanička Banja

Jošanička Banja and its surroundings are rich in greenery and forests dominated by the “banjski borjak” (black pine on the surface of about 29 ha), which represents a special part of the natural value, especially for health and recreational needs. In addition to the lush and tall grasses, the basin of the Jošanička River is mostly covered with lower hornbeam, alder, willow and poplar. In addition to beech forests, oak communities are also encountered (along the hillsides diluted) and in much less oak and black ash tree. Along the mountain slopes there is always a large number of different forest fruits (raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, etc.), as well as medicinal herbs (most often thyme, mint, St. John’s wort, etc.).
The animal world, scattered around the surrounding hills and mountains, is represented by wolves, foxes, deer, wild boar, weasel, marten, rabbit, badger, squirrel, and birds such as owl, turtledove, partridge, sometimes eagles and hawks. Jošanička Banja belongs to the hunting grounds “Jošanica” total area of 25.963 ha, of which the hunting area covers 24.123 ha. The hunting association “Baljevac” from Baljevac, which manages this hunting ground, takes care of feeding the game during the winter, in addition to protecting it from the illegal hunting. Mountain fast rivers are natural habitats for a brook trout, huchen and chub.
